Introduction

It’s easy to see the Cane Corso’s connection with the Mastiff breed line, as well as sharing their working history as protectors, hunters, and companions. A beautiful dog, many owners love the strength and muscular build of these dogs, which are truly impressive in a noble and confident way.

If you’re looking for an elegant and large companion you can stand proud with, Cane Corso dogs make for a great choice. When you also consider they are also highly affectionate and love those in their family, you can’t really go wrong.

History

Cane Corso dogs have unsurprisingly little known about them or their history. It’s suggested that their ancestor, the Roman Molossian, were bred as war dogs during the height of the Roman Empire, and have been used throughout the centuries as a protective dog and for hunting.

Sadly, the breed actually came close to extinction over the years, but thanks to human efforts, the numbers were revived and we’re still able to enjoy all the joys that Cane Corso dogs can bring into our everyday lives.

Personality

Cane Corso dogs are typically misunderstood. They can seem mean and aggressive to strangers and other dogs, but this is only because they have such an affectionate and loyalty-driven pack instinct and want to protect their owners. This is why it’s so important to socially train Cane Corso dogs from a young age.

With proper, assertive training and lots of exercise that will keep this dog happy, Cane Corso dogs are great around children and can learn to be calm around strangers. Aside from this, Cane Corso dogs are a lot of fun, very playful, and are shining examples of how dogs can be our best friends.
