Introduction

When you mix and cross breed two of the most iconic dogs in the world, the German Shepherd and the Labrador Retriever, you’ll be left with the absolutely stunning, heart-melting pup that is the German Sheprador. Winning the hearts of all who lay eyes on them, German Shepradors are beautiful and have some of the best traits a companionship dog can have, making them the ideal pooch for any family or owner.

History

German Shepradors are actually fairly new additions to the dog world and technically count as designer dogs since breeders in the US are still working on the breed standards. This means German Shepradors count as ‘hybrid dogs’, and aren’t officially recognised in many countries around the world.

However, we do know a ton about the parent breeds. The German Shepherd has been around for over a century, made popular in Germany after breeding started around the end of the 18th Century. The Labrador is clearly iconic in itself, ranking as the number one most popular dog in the US, and nearly the same in many European countries, and has also been around in human history for centuries.

Personality

Since German Shepradors are still being bred and there’s no set standard to the breed, the temperament of the dogs can be a little unstable and will massively depend on the parent dog breeds of each individual litter. Looking at the parent breeds, however, there are some common characteristics that are coming to light.

German Shepradors are outgoing, eager to please their owners, adores cuddles and running around while playing alike, and are incredibly affectionate to their owners. In short, if you’re looking for a dog with a lot of love to give, German Shepradors are perfect.
