Introduction

A new and unique hybrid cat, the Ashera is a mix of wild and domestic genetics. Still currently being observed, the breed is rare, exotic, and sought after. Large and handsome cats developed at Lifestyle Pets Laboratory, they come in standard and hypoallergenic varieties and a large price tag.

History

A very new breed the Ashera is a mix between the Asian Leopard, the African Serval, and several domestic cat breeds. It was developed at the beginning of the 21st century by a California Biotech company called Lifestyle Pets Laboratory owned by Simone Brodie. The idea when designing the breed was to make something that looked and felt more exotic but still kept a lot of the desired traits of the domestic varieties used in creating the breed. It took a few generations of testing to create both the current form of the Ashera as well as a hypoallergenic version of the breed. The breed is a new form of designer cat, however it is still under observation as it is so new, and we don't know everything about the breed yet. At the time of writing, this breed is sold for $22,000-30,000, roughly equivalent to £15,825-21,581. There is some debate as to if Ashera should be considered a form of Savannah cat.

Personality

In an attempt to make a wild looking cat with domestic qualities the Ashera is a large cat, handsome, and somewhat intimidating cat has been produced. In spite of its physical traits though the Ashera is affectionate and caring. They do not strongly bond with any one particular person and can be left alone for some time without problem. It is necessary for them to be socialised from a young age to make sure that they are confident and happy around people and other animals. Due to their wild genetics and size, they may not be the best choice for families with children and other animals, especially small mammals. They can be playful and so should be provided with toys that are suitable for their size and energy levels. Asheras have also been described as dog-like with some being taught to walk on a lead!
