Introduction

Bull Peis are fascinating breeds. They’re hybrids that are bred by crossing a traditional English Bulldog and a Chinese Shar-Pei. These dogs were bred initially in the 1900s for fighting due to their larger size and obvious muscle, but selective breeding seems to have faded this trait out. Now we have plenty of cuddly companion Bull-Peis we all can’t help but love.

Bull Peis are real easy to look after, require a little amount of exercise, and are really rather chill, making them ideal for all lifestyles, house sizes, and family makeups.

History

Since Bull-Peis are a relatively new breed, there’s not much history to share, but it’s safe to say they appeared over the last two centuries. Their parent breeds, the English Bulldog and Shar-Pei, have been around for centuries.

,p>Bulldogs were very common around the 18th Century when they were used for fighting, and Shar-Peis were bred to be farm dogs. Combining the two meant Bull-Peis were muscular enough to fit, but still relatively agile due to their small size, but crossbreeding has softened their aggression to make them the loveable dogs we know today.

Personality

Modern-day Bull-Peis are very sociable dogs, so if they’re spending time with you, they\’re happy, but that still doesn’t mean they’re high maintenance. Far from it. Bull-Peis are great with children (although supervision should always be given since these dogs can be very strong for their size), but thanks to their past, they are super easy to train, so you shouldn’t have to deal with any problems!
