Introduction

Cavachons are best described as being ‘bundles of love’. Small in size but big in fun and energy, this mixed breed makes beautiful companionship dogs for humans of all ages. Thanks to their low maintenance and happy-go-lucky attitude, they make for great family pets that everyone can love that are adaptable to pretty much any modern living condition.

History

Cavachons first appeared on the scene throughout the 1990s and are a crossbreed between Bichon Frise dogs and Cavalier King Charles Spaniels. These dogs are bred specifically for being companionship dogs that get on well with all families, people, and other animals.

As for this pup’s parents, the King Cavalier has been popular as a working and companion dog since the 1600s in the UK, first bred by King Charles I, to which the breed gets its name. On the other hand, Bichon Frise comes from Mediterranean parts of the world, especially on the island of Tenerife.

Personality

There are plenty of sources out there that agree that ‘spunky’ would very much be the best way to describe this pooch. Gentle and loving, there are few pets that come as close as this pooch for the title of ‘perfect family pet’. Despite being a small dog, these dogs aren’t yappy or snappy, especially if socialised properly from a young puppy age.

They can sometimes get a little barky at strangers, but will quickly shy aware or stay calm if trained using effective reward training. Cavachons aren’t super active, but giving them a quick daily run around will surely keep them happy.
