Introduction

If you hybrid mix a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel with the cute bundle of fluff that is a Pomeranian, you’ll be left with a beautiful Cavapom. And with such loveable parents like this, it’s easy to see why the Cavapom itself is such a beloved breed, especially in the US.

If you’re looking for an easygoing dog that’s friendly, affectionate, loyal, and a lot of fun to have around, Cavapoms deliver in all areas. Just as long as you’re taking the time to train them properly and look after them, then you'll be sure to have a doggie best friend for years to come.

History

Since Cavapoms are a fairly new crossbreed (also known as a hybrid), there’s not much history here, at least not officially recorded by kennel clubs and the sorts. However, we do know a lot about the parental breeds: the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and the Pomeranian.

The Cavalier dates back as far as the 1600s when King Charles I ruled England, which is where the breed gets its name. The Pomeranian gets its name from where it was mainly bred during the 1800s, which was Pomerania, which is modernly known as Germany and Poland.

Personality

Both parent breeds are known for being happy, affectionate, and outgoing, so mixed together simply amplifies this in the Cavapoms. These dogs are eager to please and tirelessly loyal. All they want to do is be around you all the time, so it’s always best never to leave them alone for too long.

Despite their little sizes, you’ll be amazed at how much energy these dogs have. You don’t need to take them on long walks, but they’ll happily chase a ball around all day for as long as you want. Just make sure when you are on walks that you’re putting them on a leash because if they see a bird or small animal, they’re going to try and catch it.
