Introduction

As you can perhaps guess from the name, a Cockador is a crossbred between a Cocker Spaniel and a Labrador. These lovable pups are new to the doggie world, but they are taking dog owners by storm with their adorable faces, problem-free training opportunities, as well as their playful, fun attitude towards life.

What many owners are loving about these dogs is just how easy they are to look after. They are eager to please, so will listen and obey commands easily, and have a fairly average diet and only require a moderate amount of exercise, making them ideal for first-time dog owners.

History

Since Cockadors are a pretty new breed to the designer dog well, there’s not really too much history to share. Interest for the breed started popping up online around 2005, which means that breeding these pups perhaps started a little way before this, estimates suggest around the end of the 1990s.

With that in mind, Cockadors aren’t a purebred breed just yet but are instead a pedigree, although they can only be proper pedigrees if bred from a purebred Labrador and Cocker Spaniel, so make sure you’re taking the time to research the parents if you’re planning on buying a new one!

Personality

Since both Labradors and Cocker Spaniels are very eager to impress their humans and love being the life and soul of a party, it should come as no surprise that Cockadors are friendly and affectionate and love to spend time with their family.

This means Cockadors are great if you want a dog you can play lots of games with, go for lots of nice walks with, and to have around children and strangers. Just make sure you’re social training them as puppies, so they don’t get nervous around people or pets outside your family circle!
