History

French Bulldogs are a classic Bulldog breed. They descend from a long line of companionship and working dogs known as the Molossian, a breed which then bred into dog breeds like the Mastiff, and then Bulldogs in the later years. These later years start to really come to light around the 1800s when these pups were bred for fighting and bull-baiting, hence the name.

However, the last few decades have seen these Bulldog breeds become even more popular than traditional companionship dogs like Retrievers and Labradors, not just in the UK, but in multiple countries all over the world, including the US!
