Introduction

If you crossbreed two of the most traditional dog breeds in the world; the French Bulldog and the Miniature Pinscher, you’ll be left with a French Pin. Bred in the United States as a designer dog, these dogs are small in size with the typical short but muscular physique as you’d expect, and are fairly low maintenance due to their genetic traits. It’s this ease and the cute aesthetic that makes the French Pin such a good choice as a companionship pup.

History

Because French Pins are such a new designer breed that has only started to appear over the last two or three decades and have not been made official dogs yet since they’re not purebreds, there’s not much to say about the French Pin itself. However, we do know a lot about the parent breeds.

The French Bulldog has always been a classic breed all over the world, and have been around for centuries, ever since their fighting days in the pits to their role in entertainment. The Miniature Pinscher has German origins, and it’s said they may be related to other iconic breeds, like the Dachshund.

Personality

Since French Pins are still being bred and haven’t reached a purebred stage, the personality of each dog will vary a lot depending on what the parent dogs are like, including things like which breed is the most dominant, what traits they have, and their own heritage.

However, some basic traits that are shining through for the French Pin include characteristics like being easy to get on with and being fairly affectionate, but they are quite stubborn and can be possessive over their belongings, so it’s important for training to take place from an early age to establish boundaries.
