Introduction

These sweet, fluffy dogs are a wonderful new addition to the world of dog breeds.

Kokonis come from Greece, and have only very recently been classified as an official dog breed. As a result, we would recommend that you keep an eye out for any developments in research, as organisations work to understand more about the breed.

They are characterised by their gorgeous wavy fur, curved tail and large flopped ears. In terms of personality, Kokonis are gentle and friendly. Their cheery disposition and companionable nature makes them a well-loved and inherently sociable breed.

Did you know? They may be little, but Kokonis have a notably authoritative bark (although they don’t tend to use it very often).

History

The breed has not been around for very long at all, and it has only been recently classified as an official breed of dog.

Kokonis come from Greece, where they are a very popular breed.

They originate from the Landrace breed (another common and highly popular type of dog in Greece).

Personality

Kokonis possess a wonderful temperament - they are loyal without being aggressive, and gentle without being fearful.

They are known for being companionable and friendly. However, they can be slightly perturbed by strangers, at least until they get to know them.

Despite only being a relatively small dog, Kokonis are often highly protective. In addition to this firm sense of loyalty, they are great fun to be around, making them a wonderful choice for a family pet.

This breed also possesses ample intelligence, and Kokonis are quick to learn. They train well, but still keep their delightful cheerful natures.

However it’s important to note that, due to the fact that the breed is still very new, a lot of the personality traits and characteristics of this breed are yet to be officially confirmed. Much of these findings have been reported by breeders and owners.
