Introduction

The name might give you a little clue – the Miniature Schnoxie is a cross between the Daschund and the Miniature Schnauzer. This small, chunky dog can be either smooth or wire-coated depending on the parentage and some types work well in a household where there are allergy sufferers as they do not shed hair and dander.

A loyal breed they can be quite vocal so may not be ideally suited to town living where there are close neighbours.

History

The Miniature Schnoxie owes its lineage to two much older breeds: as a standalone type, it is classified as a new breed and has only been around for about the last ten years. It takes a while for new cross-breeds to become recognised and to develop standard breed characteristics but the Miniature Schnoxie has already been recognised by the American Canine Hybrid Club and other international breed organisations.

Personality

The Miniature Schnoxie is a very engaging and curious little dog with loyalty and devotion that will melt your heart. They are tractable and biddable so quite easy to train compared to some breeds but they do have a determined streak and some examples of the breed are quite wilful so perhaps they are not the best choice of breed for a first-time dog owner.

The charismatic Miniature Schnoxie can vary in appearance and is unlikely to be a straight mix of both parents but will probably favour one breed more than the other. The Miniature Schnoxie will offer companionship and has a good reputation with children and other pets. They are a vocal breed and that may not suit a home with plenty of close neighbours.
