Introduction

Minskin cats are known for being completely hairless. These cats don’t have a furry coat; instead, they have grey or pale pink exposed, bald skin. Bald cats like Minskins are a comparatively new breed. They have skyrocketed in popularity over recent years (a trend which has come as a bit of a surprise, considering the fact that very few people had heard of them a few years ago!). They are a popular choice for many reasons, including the fact that they are far easier to groom, they (obviously) malt a lot less than other cat breeds, and they look adorable in a little knitted sweater over the winter time.

Did you know? Minskin cats are highly characteristic, and their staunch, determined nature has often been noted by their owners. They tend to know what they want, and won’t hesitate about going for it.

History

Minskin cats are the result of a crossbreed of a Munchin and a Sphynx. In addition, the breeds of Burmese and Devon Rex cats were also used to introduce other desired traits into this new breed.

The breed Minskin was developed very recently - Paul McSorley is the breeder attributed to the development of the Minskin cats, and his work (starting in 1998) in Boston USA sought to develop a cat with short legs and minimal hair.

Personality

Minskin cats are big lovers of a cuddle, and that’s not just to keep themselves warm! This breed is notably affectionate and loving, which pairs perfectly with their naturally sweet temper and outgoing nature.

Minskins delight in learning about the world around them, and have a calm but curious temperament, which makes them great fun to be around.
