Introduction

Minuet cats have an irresistible charm, and boy do they know it. These rather cheeky chappies take full advantage of their deep, round eyes - even the most heard-hearted human can’t help but be smitten. Minuets have a charming temperament and a playful, friendly nature, which means that this breed is known for being full of fun.

Did you know? Minuet cats are also commonly referred to as ‘Napoleons’. This alternative name for the breed actually comes from their French namesake Napoleon Bonaparte. But this dedication isn’t entirely complimentary - the Minuet breed is also known as The Napoleon because their legs are so little!

History

Minuet cats are a cross breed between Persian and Munchkin cats. This cat breed is actually a relatively new one. Minuets were first intentionally bred by Joe Smith in 1996. His aim was to create a beautiful cat, which had the distinctive legs that Munchkins were renowned for.

Personality

This breed is a cross between the two breeds of Persians and Munchkins. And, as with any good cross breed, Minuets have inherited some of the best traits of their two parents. This includes the even-tempered and affectionate nature which is cherished in the Persian breed, alongside a joyful, inquisitive nature which Munchkin cats are known for.
