History
Munchkin Longhair cats first originated in America. It was here that the genetic mutation which causes their trademark little legs was identified for the first time. This was back in 1983, and the Americans who discovered this trait named the breed ‘Munchkin’ after the characters in The Wizard of Oz.

Munchkin Longhair cats are delightfully inquisitive. They have a love of exploring, playing and generally exercising their intrinsic curiosity of the world around them.
