They have suffered a steep decline as a breed and are still relatively rare probably due to the reasonably specialist handling and space they require not to mention the feed bills.

The Neapolitan Mastiff is a gentle giant and adores human company and attention. They are loyal with great traits of guardianship but are not overly protective like other large breeds. They do require reasonably specialist care and plenty of space and can become very special members of the family.
